After recording the music for piano trio by Beethoven, Ravel, Debussy and Schumann, the Trio Italiano is now facing some of the greatest among Schubert's masterpieces. The first CD contains the Piano Trio No.1 op.99 and the two short pieces Notturno and Sonatensatz. It was recorded with the new technology 24-Bit / 96kHz in a small and historic concert hall (110 seats) in the centre of the Italian city of Bologna: the Sala Mozart of the Accademia Filarmonica, the name coming from the fact that here Mozart himself studied and played the (still existing) organ during his Italian stay. Inside the Sala Mozart there is an old and fascinating Steinway grand-piano built in 1919 and the pianist of the Trio Italiano was really excited to record with this instrument that offered exactly that old-fashion sound required by the Trio.
